I grew up surrounded by different forms of visual art, and it remains my passion. My father Roger Nicholson a noted wallpaper designer and fine artist in his own right. My mother also worked in textiles and was a leading figure in the revival of stitch crafts from the 1950s through to the 70s.
After studying Graphic Design, then going on to do Fine Art Textiles at Royal College of Art, I worked in paper, machine embroidery and graphics. I also brought up my two boys, Tom and Will.
After a period of illness, I was even more determined to start my own business and designed the 3d cards you can find here on the website. I then went on to design Cat and Bird as easy to do “stitch by numbers” using the printed fabric to guide those either unfamiliar with hand embroidery or new to the craft to gain confidence and achieve a satisfying and beautiful piece of work!
Over the last 5 -6 years the business has expanded to over 40 designs and many downloadable kits. I have plans for many exciting things in the future and will continue to extend the range.
