I grew up surrounded by different forms of visual art, and it remains my passion. My father Roger Nicholson a noted wallpaper designer and fine artist in his own right. My mother also worked in textiles and was a leading figure in the revival of stitch crafts from the 1950s through to the 70s.

After studying Graphic Design, then going on to do Fine Art Textiles at Royal College of Art, I worked in paper, machine embroidery and graphics. I also brought up my two boys, Tom and Will.

After a period of illness, I was even more determined to start my own business and designed the 3d cards you can find here on the website. I then went on to design Cat and Bird as easy to do “stitch by numbers” using the printed fabric to guide those either unfamiliar with hand embroidery or new to the craft to gain confidence and acheive a satisfying and beautiful piece of work!

Over the last 5 -6 years the business has expanded to 16 designs and many downloadable kits. I have plans for many exciting things in the future and will continue to extend the range.

Hi Nancy I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed doing the Owl Sampler.....I was nervous of the printing onto calico from the PC bit but it worked! And I LOVED doing the embroidery, although I am a complete beginner.... Thank you for all the pleasure you have given me, I am choosing my next design soon. I love your work. Hope to see you at Thread in Farnham later in the year? Very best wishes,
Mary

Hello Nancy, I just wanted to write and say how much I enjoyed stitching the Bird dance cushion panel .... It was a gift from my husband for my birthday, (and I think suggested by my daughter), but I am thrilled with the result! Are you bringing out some more designs? I will keep a look out on your website. Many thanks
